The country of Colombia is nearly perfectly suited for coffee cultivation. Three mountain ranges merge to create the ideal conditions for growing high quality coffee. The Colombian Coffee Federation strengthens this topographic advantage by offering farmers valuable expertise in crop management and post harvest preparation. The result is consistently high quality coffee grown at scale. The truly impressive thing about Colombian coffee is not that they produce high quality coffee – it is that they can produce so much high quality coffee.
Each region of Colombia has its own unique flavor profiles and individual producers groups work to create signature qualities that set them apart. We have been working in the Huila region now for over twenty years because the coffees from this region exhibit a distinct sweetness that other regions lack.
We source exclusively the Supremo grade – the highest grade available – that is prepared to the higher standard for the European market, commonly referred as euro-prep. These coffees are cleaner and more refined than the standard preparation method. While Colombian coffee can seem ubiquitous, this one deserves serious respect by any connoisseur. A coffee that should not be dismissed. It is understated, smooth and rewards savoring.
Colombia Supremo Sur de Huila is a medium bodied coffee with a soft, liqueur like character. We air roast these darling little beans to perfection. Colombian coffee is renowned for it’s silky smooth characteristics and its ability to blend well with other regions’ coffees. Colombia is one of our staples here at Kaladi, we have found that while it does have enough body to take milk or sugar, it’s a very nice stand alone coffee.
Colombia Huila Supremo also makes for a very nice iced coffee.
